The Planning Commission approved several development items and recommended next steps for review on April 14.
The commission approved a recommendation for "parcel B" on the Warfield property for construction of an assisted community home. The item will proceed to the Board of Zoning Appeals; Planning Commission members said they wanted the site's plan outcome available before the BZA meeting. The council noted the BZA meeting is scheduled later this month.
The Planning Commission also approved a preliminary plan for the Enclave and a site-plan review for a small dwelling on Schoolhouse Road. Staff described the Schoolhouse Road structure as "just under 700 square feet" and said the building is expected to function as a community gathering space and leasing office, with computer workstations for residents.
Separately, the council discussed the French Twist property and confirmed plans appear to support the business and downtown revitalization.
Why it matters: The parcel B recommendation on the Warfield land moves a proposed assisted community home forward in the review process and will require subsequent site-plan and BZA review. The small community-oriented building on Schoolhouse Road is intended as a leasing and resident computer-access space, not solely a private dwelling. The council and staff noted these approvals are preliminary and subject to further administrative review and BZA action where required.
Next steps: The parcel B proposal will go to the Board of Zoning Appeals; staff and applicants will submit site plans for final review. The Enclave and Schoolhouse Road plans were approved at the preliminary or site-review stage and will move forward under the town's standard process.
