The Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission at its April meeting took several routine actions and one major recommendation:
- Final plats: The commission accepted two final plats: a two‑lot subdivision (final approval) and an AG‑2 one‑lot subdivision in Turkey Creek. Staff said both returned to the commission as presented, with required infrastructure and improvements in place.
- Rezoning C20258 (Lyle Yoder): The commission approved a petition to rezone approximately 1.45 acres from agricultural to AG‑2 for a parcel south of County Road 1150 North in Jackson Township. No remonstrances were voiced at the hearing and the commission voted to recommend approval; that recommendation will be forwarded to the County Commissioners.
- Rezoning (Murphy Place / Polk Family): The commission received extensive public testimony on a petition to rezone roughly 554 acres from agricultural to I‑3 for a proposed data center. After presentations by petitioner representatives and utility staff and a lengthy public comment period, the commission voted to recommend denial of the I‑3 rezoning. That advisory recommendation will be transmitted to County Commissioners for final action on April 22.
Votes and process notes: The commission took voice votes on the final plats and the small AG‑2 rezoning; those motions passed without recorded opposing votes. The larger Murphy Place rezoning was the subject of an extended public hearing and a motion to deny the petition passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded among members present. Planning staff and commissioners noted that APC recommendations are advisory and that final zoning authority rests with the county commissioners.
