St. Joseph County commissioners approved an easement with Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) on April 1 to allow gas transmission and related work on county-owned parcels in the Larson Boulevard/New Carlisle area.
Bill Shalio, identified as economic development director with the county’s Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Growth, said at the prior meeting the board approved a property transfer to NIPSCO for development of a gas substation. Today’s request authorizes an easement so NIPSCO can perform work before the property transfer is completed and to allow transmission of gas across an additional county-owned parcel to the site.
Shalio said the packet includes a map showing the easement locations. Commissioners approved the easement by recorded vote.
Commissioners Morton, Hazen and Maxmeier voted aye.
