Regional economic development officials report modest job and housing shifts; emphasize targeted industry outreach

The EDC is pursuing targeted industry outreach to diversify jobs and reduce reliance on water‑intensive industries. Dice said staff are soliciting industry input on sectors that could expand in the region without adding heavy water or power demand; options under discussion include maintenance/repair operations (MRO), certain pharmaceutical chemical processing and technology and cybersecurity job clusters.
Council questions focused on workforce training, CTE support and energy/transmission capacity as factors that influence site selection. Dice said the EDC will continue promotion at targeted trade shows and emphasized partnerships with Del Mar College, Texas A&M and local workforce boards to align training with employer needs.
