Board approves consent items, four policy revisions, mileage reimbursement and administrative pay cap

The North Platte Public Schools Board of Education on April 14 approved routine business items, four revisions to district policy and a set of administrative contract authorizations, and granted mileage reimbursement for a board member.

The board voted to approve the publication and agenda for the April 14 meeting, then approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from prior meetings, the acceptance of multiple staff resignations effective mostly on or about May 20, 2025, and several teaching contracts for the 2025–26 school year. The board later approved revisions to district policies 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2010 and approved mileage reimbursement for board member Angela Blasey for attendance at a January NASB conference in Lincoln. The board also authorized the superintendent to complete administrative contracts for 2025–26 with total compensation increases not to exceed 1%.

The policy votes were presented as technical and formatting updates with one substantive clarification in policy 2007: reimbursement for registration, travel, meals and lodging “as permitted by law” now requires board approval. Policy 2006 was changed to replace the word “reduce” with “provide” in the district’s complaint procedure. Policy 2010 was amended to explicitly state that any board member may submit agenda items to the superintendent and board president, with final placement decided by the board president.

The mileage reimbursement request for Angela Blasey covered use of her personal vehicle for the Nebraska Association of School Boards legislative conference in January; one board member abstained on that vote and the motion passed. The administrative compensation authorization was the most-discussed action: after a lengthy review of district salary array data and comparative figures from peer districts, the board approved a motion authorizing the superintendent to implement administrative contract changes for 2025–26 with total compensation increases not to exceed 1%.
