The Chautauqua County Public Facilities Committee on April 14 voted to amend the county's 2025 budget to add $35,000 for the CARTS advertising program through Spectrum.
Tim Carter, director of public facilities, told the committee the advertising line was included in the original budget but removed during final budget work. Carter said local outreach and advertising produced increased visibility and revenue; he said the county exceeded its 2024 estimate for charter revenue by $17,000 and that advertising helped reach riders who had not used public transit previously.
Committee members endorsed returning the $35,000 line to the budget, noting that reinvesting charter revenue into advertising that increases ridership has been effective. The committee adopted the resolution by voice vote.
