Cultural Endowment distributes stability fund; Nebraska Arts Council projects strong CPF balance for 2026

Council staff reported that the Cultural Endowment has dissolved a previously held stability fund and distributed approximately $421,000 to the Nebraska Arts Council and Humanities Nebraska. The distribution reflects accumulated balances that had been held privately as part of prior stability arrangements.
Mike (staff) walked the council through a CPF and reserves recap and projections. He reported the council started the year with about $312,000 in reserves, received $345,000 in earnings, and after distributions and reserves held back for contingency, expected available funding for next year could exceed $1,000,000 if market returns are around 5%. Under more conservative scenarios the council would still end the year with more than $300,000 in CPF funds.
Staff said the ability to fund the CPAP (Creative Partnership/Assistance Program) organizations and other statewide initiatives entirely from CPF funds is now feasible without drawing on NACDC reserves. The projection includes an intended continuation of $380,000 in contractual distributions to BSG organizations and set-asides of $15,000 for education initiatives and $10,000 for special initiatives aimed at statewide impact.
The council accepted the financial presentation and voted to approve the financial report earlier in the meeting. Staff noted the information was not available at the prior week—s board meeting and that the numbers were provided to the council for forward planning.
