Regional Medical Center integration shows rising census; additional ORs and services to come

Santa Clara County health system staff reported that the recently acquired Regional Medical Center has seen inpatient volumes rise steadily since takeover. April's average daily census was reported at 38; May to date was 53 and some days reached a census of 68. Health system leaders said they now expect to reach the previously budgeted year‑end target earlier than planned.
The county said two additional operating rooms have been restored to service and will be used beginning in June, with labor and delivery expected to go live by the end of the calendar year. Outpatient specialty expansion plans named urology, interventional radiology and ENT as areas being added.
The county expects the California Department of Public Health to complete its change‑of‑ownership review in mid‑June. Committee members urged continued community outreach and a forthcoming master planning and outreach process; staff said the outreach/master planning timeline was moved to next fall so the county could focus first on restoring committed services.
The committee voted to receive the integration update.
