The Dorchester County Police Accountability Board received a law-enforcement briefing in which a visiting officer said he was not aware of any recent ICE activity in the county, noted a Cambridge police office and task-force involvement, and reported improved recruitment results.
Jeff Biscat, introduced as deputy chief (retired) with the Pearl Rock Police Department, told the board, "I'm not aware of any [ICE activity]." When asked whether any activity had been observed in the county, Biscat said he had not heard of it this year.
Board members discussed a local police office in Cambridge. A board member identified the location as the old Airfax building on Woods Road and said the office likely operates as part of a task force that includes state and federal agencies. The board's transcript records that some county personnel were out of town for FBI training on the night of the meeting.
A sergeant with the Cambridge Police Department, filling in for Greg McCray, reported that recruitment had improved. "The last couple weeks, we've gotten 4 that have passed all of our agility tests," the sergeant said. Board members were told ride-along requests should be coordinated through the chief.
The briefing produced no formal actions; board members thanked the officers for attending and then moved to closed session business.
