Members of the Castle Rock Historic Preservation Board reviewed plans for Historic Preservation Month and confirmed outreach items and event participation for the coming months.
Board members discussed placing streetlight banners downtown; staff and the downtown marketing contacts (named in the meeting as Kevin and Kara) provided a ballpark price of about $95 per banner including mounting hardware. Staff said the town has roughly 200 suitable light poles and the board discussed ordering six to eight banners at first for select locations.
The board confirmed placemats updated with new QR codes, discussed a poster featuring the Masonic Lodge as the focal image and reviewed challenges with low‑resolution archival photos. The presenter said the poster printers can ship within a week once final artwork is approved and asked members for quick feedback on contrast and background choices.
The board is signed up to table at the downtown concert organized by the DMA; the presenter said the vendor set up window would likely be 3–4 p.m. and that the event’s official start is noted as 5 p.m. with music beginning around 6 p.m. Members said they typically set up at 5 and pack up once music begins. Volunteers were sought to distribute printed posters and placemats to local businesses; one member volunteered to help and the presenter said she planned to print an extra 10–15 posters for the Masonic Lodge.
Locations suggested for posters and banners included Wilcox Square, Castle Cafe, the crosswalk between the emporium and the barn, Festival Park and the museum; the museum expressed interest in hosting placement in front of its building. Board members also discussed producing a coloring‑book style activity or digital submission area for children on the HPB website and possible use of a digitized coloring book vendor.
No formal vote was taken; staff said they will circulate revised poster proofs and a short timeline for ordering banners and prints.
