Committee recommends separate state-guard line item in Department of Military budget

Senator Crow told the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee on April 9 that Senate Bill 2-93 would establish the state guard as a separate entity or separate line item within the Department of Military and that the proposal includes approximately $67,000 a year to cover training and related costs.
Crow said the dollars for the state guard are included in the budget and that the separate line item would ensure funding for training and related activities; ‘‘the military has been taking essentially around $67,000 a year, which is what we're asking for here,’’ Crow said (s=1207.98–1243.99).
Committee members tested the will to move the bill and, after a motion and second, took a roll call. The committee recommended Senate Bill 2-93 for passage to the committee on the calendar; the Chair announced the result as 10 ayes and one person out voting (s=1269.70–1290.24).
