The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Planning Commission postponed consideration of a rezoning request that would reclassify multiple parcels on East Maxwell Street and Lexington Avenue to the downtown-frame B2A zone and clear the way for an eight-story, mixed-use building proposed by Subtext Acquisitions LLC. Planning staff described the proposal as a high-density, mixed-use project aimed primarily at University of Kentucky students and said the project would provide about 900 beds on roughly 2.34 acres.
Planning staff said the application lacks enough information for a full decision. "The sole rezoning request for this month that we'll be discussing is a request by Subtext Acquisitions LLC," Planning staff member Daniel Kron said in opening the presentation. He and other staff raised issues ranging from pedestrian activation and streetscape details to the status of two older structures on the corner of Lexington and Maxwell.
