Wilson County receives collections report, approves March refunds and a $28,777 budget amendment for records preservation

Crawford Bolton, Wilson County tax administrator, presented the February 2025 tax collections report to the Board of Commissioners; the board stood to receive the report with no further action required.
Bolton then presented the March 2025 refunds in excess of $100 and asked the board to approve the listed refunds. He explained that many refunds reflected NCVTS (vehicle tag) transactions and clerical errors on property accounts that can be corrected under the applicable statute up to five years from the payment date. "These are actual refunds that come into our office for a clerical error where we inputted the factual information on a property account wrong," Bolton said.
The board approved the refunds by motion and voice vote.
Separately, Angel Landrieu, financial services director, presented a budget amendment requested by the Register of Deeds to move $28,777 from the automation enhancement and preservation funds reserve to preserve records. The board approved the budget amendment by motion and voice vote.
Ending: The board recorded receipt of the collections report and approved the refunds and the Register of Deeds budget amendment; county staff will process refunds and implement the approved budget transfer.
