The Wilson County Board of Commissioners approved economic incentives for three companies during its April meeting: Barnes Metal Crafters, Fresenius Kabi USA and Bridgestone Americas tire operations.
Jennifer Lance, director of the Wilson County Economic Development Council, presented each incentive. For Barnes Metal Crafters Lance described the agreement as the final incentive for the project; the presentation listed an average salary of $42,000 and an investment of $2,560,000. The incentive amount for Barnes Metal Crafters was not clearly stated in the meeting record.
For Fresenius Kabi USA the board was told the incentive amount is $860,000, with the presentation noting an increase in jobs (transcript listed as "4 45 jobs"), an average salary of $50,000 and an investment of $286,000,000.
For Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations Lance presented the eighth year of an 11-year incentive, listed as $1,400,000. The company was described as required to retain 1,605 jobs, reported to have almost 2,000 jobs, an average salary of $60,000 per year and an investment of $344,200,000.
Each incentive was approved by motion and voice vote. The meeting record does not include a roll-call tally; minutes record that motions were "properly made and seconded" and that the motion "carries" after voice votes.
Ending: County staff recorded the approvals and will follow through on any contract or reporting requirements connected to the incentive agreements.
