Board awards Sand Ridge Golf Club clubhouse construction contract

Indian River County commissioners unanimously authorized the county to award a construction contract for a new clubhouse at Sand Ridge Golf Club at a meeting April 8.

Park and golf staff presented a value-engineered design and financing approach. The preferred bid for construction was $11,200,000 with additional estimated costs of about $1,700,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment; staff said the club's enterprise fund has accumulated reserves, the facility is profitable and options for an interfund loan and targeted bonding remain under review to fund the project without undermining the enterprise.

Why it matters: commissioners described Sand Ridge as a county-owned enterprise with a strong revenue record (staff reported substantial increases in rounds and revenue since 2019) and told staff to begin the financing steps. Project notes: the design includes a 200-person banquet facility (divisible into two 100-person rooms), a commercial-grade kitchen, a pro shop and an expanded paved parking area (planned 210 paved spaces). Staff also noted the county would consider operating the restaurant in-house after construction to maximize return to the enterprise fund; a final financing resolution will return to the board.
