Austin Peay reports strong turnout from Be A Gov recruitment tour; 244 prospective students attended third year

Provost Maria Cronley told the Academic Affairs Committee that Austin Peay State University—s third annual "Be A Gov" recruitment tour attracted 244 prospective admitted students this year and that nearly 100 of those students had already registered for an upcoming orientation event.
Cronley described the roadshow as an effort to meet admitted students and their families across Tennessee, from Memphis to Chattanooga and other cities in the Mid-State. She said campus stakeholders including senior leadership, deans, admission staff, student ambassadors and academic support personnel participate in the events.
Cronley provided a multi-year snapshot: the inaugural year drew 91 attendees; the second year drew 252. She said the first-year matriculation rate was 70% and described last year—s matriculation rate as approximately in the low-60 percent range, which she called "absolutely amazing" compared with the university—s typical yield in the 20% range. She said final yield figures for this year cannot be calculated until fall enrollment is complete.
Cronley acknowledged the admissions team and singled out Assistant Provost Amy Korolew, outreach staff Hendo Herrera and Nora Beerman, assistant director of outreach, for their roles organizing the events. "A big shout out to every single person that helps with this effort," she said.
Trustee May, who attended one of the events, told the committee she enjoyed speaking with parents and prospective students and described the tour as a good setup for statewide recruitment.
No committee action was taken on the update; Cronley and admissions staff said they will report back with final matriculation figures following fall enrollment.
