Alamosa Library Board reports rising visits and program attendance; reviews state law implications for policies

The board discussed Colorado Senate Bill 24-216 (as referenced in the presentation), which Krebs said clarifies the responsibility of public libraries to resist censorship and requires some policy updates. The board reviewed policies that needed revision or reaffirmation under the law, including meeting-room and program policies, materials-reconsideration procedures, collection-development guidelines, patron behavior policies and the library's minor movie lending policy.
Krebs described board support for library staff and volunteer efforts, cited volunteer work at community events and noted the board assisted with hiring a customer service assistant earlier in the year.
Councilors thanked the board and library staff for outreach, programming and services to youth and the broader community.
