Chickasha Lions Club to host 'Meet the Candidates' event; club installs permanent eyeglass drop box

Joseph Neto, speaking for the Chickasha Lions Club, invited Chickasha residents to a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, March 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Canadian Valley Technology Center’s seminar center. "This is a free and open to the public event," Neto said, adding candidates will have tables to meet attendees one-on-one and that the club will provide coffee, tea, water and cookies.
Neto said the event is being promoted through social media and community outlets, including the Chickasha Express-Star and local radio. He asked the council and community to help spread the word.
On behalf of the Lions Club, Neto also announced a permanent eyeglasses drop box installed at Seventh and West Choctaw Avenue in the Severe Funeral Home’s north parking lot. "This drop box allows Chickasha residents to donate their used eyeglasses, which will be recycled and distributed to individuals in need," Neto said. He said the project honors Helen Keller’s 1925 challenge to Lions Clubs International and was made possible through local generosity and in memory of long-time member Jody Severe.
Neto described the box as intended to help residents with vision needs and thanked the council for the opportunity to share the information.
