Tullahoma board celebrates students, volunteers and names district Volunteer of the Year

The Tullahoma City School Board opened its meeting with a series of recognitions: the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents presented Dr. Katrine Stevens with the South Central Superintendent of the Year award, the board honored several student achievements and athletic success, and the district named Hannah Lynch its Volunteer of the Year and will advance her nomination to the Tennessee School Boards Association competition.

Recognitions and highlights
- Superintendent award: Gary Lilly, executive director of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOS), presented Dr. Katrine Stevens with the South Central Superintendent of the Year award. Lilly told the board Dr. Stevens was selected by her peers for leadership in learning, communication, professionalism and community involvement and is a regional finalist for the state award.
- Student celebrations: The board recognized Peyton Cunningham, who completed his private pilot requirements (58 hours at assessment and 68 hours ongoing toward an instrument rating); three students who earned a perfect 36 composite ACT score (Seth Vaughn, Kaylee Williams and junior Sadler Duncan); and the Tullahoma High School boys basketball team for reaching the state championship game and finishing as state runner-up. Coach Jason Welch and assistant coaches addressed the board and thanked the community for support.
- Volunteer recognition: Principals presented school-level volunteers of the year from across district campuses; examples included Gigi Robinson (Bel Air), Will Ferrell (East Lincoln), Hannah Lynch (Farrah), Jessica May (Ariel), Jamie Trimble (East Middle), Jennifer Hood (West Middle), Aaron Carmack (Tullahoma High) and Dale Shackleford (Tullahoma Virtual Academy). The board selected Hannah Lynch as Tullahoma City Schools Volunteer of the Year and will submit her name for the South Central TSBA competition.
Ending
The board asked the community to join in celebrating the honorees and encouraged attendance at upcoming events, including an April 29 Special Olympics hosted at Tullahoma High School. No formal board action was required for the recognitions.
