Wellington pauses further funding to senior club as staff outline rising program use and transport expansion

Village staff told the Wellington Senior Advisory Committee that the Village will not provide additional funding to the village‑affiliated senior club until the club’s bank balance falls below a $25,000 threshold, a change staff said reflects a review of past practices and the club’s existing reserves.

The issue surfaced during staff updates at the advisory committee’s meeting, when Jennifer, staff liaison for the Village of Wellington, reported that the senior club had $146,890.25 in its accounts as of December and that “the village is not going to be funding any more money to the senior club at this point. We are going to have a contract in place … and per that contract, we are saying that until we get down to a $25,000 threshold, the village will not be giving any more money for the senior club.”
