Perry County schedules May 5 public hearing on annual comprehensive-plan amendments

The Perry County Planning Commission announced at its April meeting that it will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the county comprehensive plan on May 5 at 8 a.m., both virtually and in person at the Commissioners Conference Room.
Staff said the county sent required notifications to Municipal Planning Code (MPC) entities and had received the first county-level comments from Cumberland County, which indicated satisfaction with consistency elements. Because the formal 45-day review period runs after the public hearing, commissioners said they cannot adopt a resolution recognizing the amendments until the 45 days elapse following the hearing.
Most amendments in this cycle are project-related, staff said, and mapping work remains for Penn Township where a planned growth area is proposed to be relocated to land described in the packet. The commission encouraged members of the public to review the posted amendments on the county website and submit comments at or before the May 5 hearing.
Staff also reminded commissioners of the schedule for related regional plans: the regional transportation plan is slated for final adoption in September, and the active transportation plan website is live for public review.
