Human Relations Commission members praise Lab to Combat Human Trafficking training; staff report local follow-up with schools

“Kara was, like, above and beyond, incredible, came so prepared, and ready to go,” one commissioner said during the April 15 Human Relations Commission meeting.
Commissioners described active audience engagement and noted an unexpected benefit: the training created a direct connection between the Lab to Combat Human Trafficking and the manager of the city’s family-resource-schools program. Staff said that connection may enable future trainings for school staff, and that follow-up conversations are already underway.
Commissioners said law-enforcement representatives from the Boulder County sheriff’s office attended and shared on-the-ground experience, which attendees found valuable. Organizers also emphasized making information accessible: commissioners and staff noted bilingual staffing and interpretation at events are priorities.
No formal actions or budget allocations were approved at the meeting related to the training. Staff and commissioners said they will consider additional community-facing events in the future and will share details when they are scheduled.
