Clayton Board authorizes RFQ for long-range facilities work, including CHS academic wing and auditorium

The School District of Clayton Board of Education authorized administration to issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) to identify architectural and design partners for a multi-part long-range facilities program.
Superintendent Dr. Nisha Patel summarized the district's three priority areas: (1) Clayton High School upgrades including an academic wing and auditorium improvements tied to career-technical education and large-event space; (2) athletic facility improvements, including work at Gay Field or an alternative site and completion of Adzick Field; and (3) feasibility and design development for the district's elementary schools and the family pre-K center. Patel said the district will seek community input and emphasized that the work is intended to align facilities with academic outcomes.
Board staff member John read the motion to authorize a single RFQ with three packages. John said firms could respond to any or all packages, and gave a timeline: the RFQ would be posted in a few days, remain open roughly two to three weeks, and the administration hoped to recommend awards to the board in late May. He said the selection committee will include board members, district administration and community members, similar to the committee that selected Paragon earlier in the process.
Board members asked about committee composition and timing. After the discussion the board voted by voice; the motion passed.
The RFQ is intended to move the district from the planning phase into site-specific feasibility and schematic design work if appropriate, and to inform future budget and engagement steps.
