Clayton Board swears in incumbents, elects officers including Stacy Sewach as president

Incumbent candidates were certified as elected and three board members took the oath of office before the School District of Clayton Board of Education moved on to elect its leadership for the coming year.

The board announced that, as permitted under Missouri State Statute Section 115.124 and after publishing the notice required under Section 115.127 RSMo, no election was held April 8 because the number of filings equaled the number of open positions. Incumbents Chris Winn and Ben Beinfeld were named to three-year terms expiring in 2028, and Stacy Sewach was named to an unexpired one-year term expiring in 2026. The board swore in Chris Winn, Ben Beinfeld and Stacy Sewach at the start of the meeting.

The board then opened nominations for officer roles. Board member Ben Beinfeld nominated Stacy Sewach for president, saying she had been “a very strong, committed member of this Board for 6 years” and noting her leadership during the district’s facilities planning. Sewach accepted, saying continuity of leadership was important while the district proceeds with facilities planning. The board voted by voice; the motion to elect Sewach as board president passed.

For vice president, current vice president nominated Jason Grow; Grow accepted and was elected by voice vote. Chris Winn (appearing in nominations as a candidate for secretary) accepted nomination and was elected secretary by voice vote. Kim Hurst accepted nomination and was elected treasurer by voice vote after being nominated by a fellow board member.

The board paused briefly to recognize Mayor Bridget McAndrew in the audience and then moved on to other agenda items.
