The Yuba City City Council voted Tuesday to approve a $2,500 monetary sponsorship for the Beale Military Liaison Council (BMLC), to be paid from the city's community sponsorship account.
Kristi Morales, who presented the request, told council the BMLC is a nonprofit founded in 1985 that raises funds and awareness to support programs serving Beale Air Force Base. Morales said the BMLC has invested more than $1.5 million in quality-of-life projects for the base and asked the council to authorize the $2,500 sponsorship. The staff report noted a remaining balance of about $15,000 in the community sponsorship fund.
"We are very passionate about Beale Air Force Base and the impact that the base has on our community," said Sammy Noll, chair of the BMLC, who attended the meeting to thank the council for considering the request.
There was no public opposition during the meeting. A council motion to adopt a resolution approving the $2,500 contribution carried unanimously.
Ending: The city will process the sponsorship payment from the community sponsorship account and staff will note the disbursement in the city's records.
