A district staff member presented the School Health Advisory Council’s (SHAC) year‑end report to the board on April 15, summarizing work the advisory committee undertook during the 2024–25 school year.
The presenter said SHAC reviewed and updated bylaws, revised the district wellness plan, heard a counseling department overview, and received updates from child nutrition and district safety staff. The committee — 22 members with 13 community members and two board members among them — discussed safe routes to school and recommended continued collaboration with the City of College Station on pedestrian and bicycle safety and neighborhood mobility projects.
The presenter noted that SHAC posts agendas and recordings on the district website and that the committee’s focus and workload vary by year depending on curriculum renewals and other needs. For 2025–26 the presenter recommended SHAC continue conversations on safe routes to school, citing the potential for joint city–district projects to improve walking and biking access to campuses.
Board comment: Trustees thanked SHAC members and the presenter and encouraged community participation in city mobility surveys that can influence local infrastructure planning.
No board action was requested or taken on the SHAC report.
