Jackson Early College senior urges board to allow middle‑school baseball; board members express interest

Board members asked clarifying questions about Mississippi High School Activities Association eligibility rules, league arrangements and logistics such as coaches, practice space and costs. Cornelius said he had not yet discussed the idea with the district athletic director but planned to do so. Superintendent Green and other board members praised Cornelius for presenting and encouraged him to follow up with the athletic director.
The board did not take a formal vote on policy change; members expressed support for exploring options and asked staff and the student to confer with the athletic office.
