Selectmen approve permits, reappointments, tax actions and municipal payments

Brookfield’s Board of Selectmen on April 23 approved a slate of municipal actions including building- and home-occupation permit forms, multiple reappointments, a veterans’ tax credit and several land-use filings, and signed payroll and vendor manifests.
The board voted to adopt an updated building-permit application and the permanent building permit form, and approved a new home-occupation/business application intended to clarify when home-based activities must be registered with the town. The board accepted recommended fee changes for building permits: $6 per $1,000 of assessed value with a $50 minimum.
Selectmen reappointed Mary Lou McLean and Sandy Pace to three-year terms on the Heritage Commission and reappointed Frank Frazier, Faith Buell and Pat Drod to three-year terms on the Conservation Commission. The board also reappointed Susan Wyske to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and appointed Brian Robichaud as an alternate to that board.
On tax and land matters, the board approved a permanent property tax credit for a veteran: a total credit of $1,650 under the provisions cited in the meeting (identified in the record as RSA 72 26, RSA 72 28 and RSA 7,235). The board approved an intent to cut on Map 20 Lot 5 (Chantelier Farm LLC), estimated at about 100 cords and listing tree species including pine, hemlock, birch, oak and ash. The board approved a 2024 gravel tax warrant for Map 30 Lot 3 in the amount of $143.84 and approved a 2025 notice of intent to excavate for the same parcel (estimated 10,000 cubic yards; $100 forwarding fee to the state).
Municipal payments were also approved: a vendor manifest totalling $35,586.43, a payroll manifest of $2,430.71 and payroll taxes of $992.49. The board authorized reimbursement of up to $275 per night for attendance at a risk-management summit (Primex) for a staff member who had already covered the cost.
Finally, selectmen signed the town’s MS-2/32 and MS-6/36 budget forms to transmit required budget documentation.
