Several members of the public addressed the Board during the continuance call, offering a mix of criticisms and calls for improved law enforcement practices; testimony included calls for better accountability and for the city to "do a better job" on law enforcement matters. After public comment closed, the Board continued the hearing to May 6 without objection.
Supervisor Walton said moving the hearing was necessary because many department presenters had schedule conflicts; the motion was seconded by Supervisor Melgar and carried without objection. The continuance postpones detailed committee-level review and updates on DOJ recommendations until the May Board meeting, when a fuller slate of SFPD presenters and departmental staff are expected to attend.
