Board approves $10 million settlement in opioid-manufacturer lawsuit
Summary
The Board approved on first reading a $10 million settlement in the city’s lawsuit against Endo Health Solutions, Par Pharmaceutical and related entities.
The Board of Supervisors on July 19 approved an ordinance on first reading authorizing settlement of the city’s lawsuit against Endo Health Solutions, Endo Pharmaceuticals, Par Pharmaceutical, Inc. and related entities for $10,000,000.
The city attorney’s office presented the settlement in open session and invited questions. No members of the public called in to comment on the settlement and the board did not convene a closed session on the matter. The city attorney’s staff said they were available to answer questions and the board proceeded to a recorded vote.
Vote - The ordinance authorizing settlement was adopted on first reading by unanimous roll call (11–0).
Ending The board recorded the first-reading approval; subsequent steps will include finalization of settlement documentation and execution as provided in the ordinance. The city attorney’s office will handle implementation and disbursement under the settlement terms.
