Board accepts landowner election results for Treasure Island IRFD, amends paperwork and continues ordinance

The Department of Elections canvass reported that 100% of the qualified electors voted in favor of the ballot measures held Jan. 17, 2022. City staff and outside counsel advised the board that a ministerial missequencing had occurred: the mayor signed the resolution calling the election after the election date. The City Attorney and outside bond counsel advised there was no reasonable basis to conclude the timing error would have changed the outcome.
Luke Brewer, representing the controller’s office, described proposed amendments that would state the election results plainly, record the Jan. 17 election date, and add language ratifying and confirming the resolutions and election. Deputy City Attorney John Givner confirmed the only missequencing was the delayed signature on the resolution.
Supervisor Haney moved, and Supervisor Mandelmann seconded, amendments and a motion to continue the resolution and ordinance (items 16 and 17) to the Feb. 8 board meeting so supervisors can review the written amendments before final action. The board approved taking the amendments and continuing the items to Feb. 8 using the “same house, same call” process.
