The Board of Supervisors approved a final map for up to nine lots and up to 310 condominium units at the Hunters View redevelopment site on July 27 after the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) provided a written commitment addressing supervisors’ concerns about the sequencing of market‑rate development and affordable housing.
Supervisor Walton said he wanted to ensure the board would not approve market‑rate lots in Phase 3 before affordable housing funding was secured. MOHCD responded in writing, saying: “understanding the importance of fulfilling our promises to the current and future low income residents of Hunters View, we commit to you that we will not pursue the sale or development of any market rate parcels in phase 3 until the affordable housing is fully funded.” That letter, read into the record, eased supervisors’ concerns about approval of the final map.
The final map authorizes subdivision of the development site into lots and formalizes public improvement agreements required for recording the map. Supervisors emphasized the importance of continuing to secure financing for the affordable housing components of the multi‑phase redevelopment and noted the board’s expectation that MOHCD follow through on the written commitment.
Without objections, the board approved the final map unanimously. The board’s approval allows the map to be recorded and moves phase 3 forward under the stated commitment from MOHCD.
