Board approves a slate of ordinances, contracts and resolutions in unanimous votes

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a broad set of ordinances, resolutions and contract amendments at its May 11 regular meeting, approving settlements, emergency repairs, contract extensions, and policy updates.
Among the actions the board approved were an ordinance authorizing settlement terms with Recology and two other private haulers; landmark designation for the Lyon-Martin House at 651 Duncan Street; an emergency public-works contract for steam-loop repairs at Civic Center; federal power-delivery contract amendments for Treasure Island/Buena Island; multiple airport lease amendments; contract extensions for alternate-shelter food services; documents related to Mission Rock financing; and an ordinance extending the compliance deadline for building owners to upgrade fire alarm systems from July 1, 2021, to July 1, 2023. The board also reenacted an emergency ordinance to maintain certain COVID-19 protections for grocery and related retail locations through June 15, 2021.
Most items were adopted by unanimous vote of the full board. Several contract amendments and resolutions were adopted as consent or by roll call with 11 ayes. The board repeatedly adopted measures “without objection,” and numerous routine appointments and committee confirmations were approved unanimously. Where items required more than routine consideration, members recorded brief remarks before taking the votes.

Several routine appointments, committee confirmations, and commendations were also approved without objection. For items that were continued or required further committee work, the board either scheduled follow-up hearings or voted to continue the item to a subsequent meeting (see separate article on Item 1).
