Supervisor Ronan introduces legislation to protect Mission PDR space from retail conversions

Supervisor Hillary Ronan on Feb. 7 introduced legislation arising from the Mission Action Plan 2020 process to preserve Production, Distribution and Repair (PDR) space in the Mission district.
Ronan said PDR space — which supports many higher-paying jobs in the district — is being lost rapidly to other uses. The proposed ordinance would remove massage establishments and gyms as allowed uses in PDR-designated spaces and would remove the retail special-use district on Sixteenth Street to Potrero Avenue. Ronan said the measure is the first in a series expected from the MAP 2020 process and thanked the mayor's office and the Planning Commission for their role in developing the proposal.
