Commissioners approve interlocal agreement to consolidate permitting and asset-management software

The Washington County Commissioners Court approved an interlocal agreement with MyGovernmentOnline to provide a consolidated asset-management, permitting and addressing platform.

County staff told commissioners the county currently uses three separate systems to handle permitting, work orders and addressing. Staff said the split systems cause internal confusion and frustrate constituents who are uncertain where to submit or track permits. The MyGovernmentOnline solution was presented as a ‘‘one‑stop shop’’ that will centralize permit submissions and work-order tracking and provide automated notifications to applicants as status changes occur.

Implementation and testing are expected to require several months of work. Staff described a training-and-implementation phase before the solution goes live; commissioners were told the earliest realistic go‑live window is in early 2026, depending on testing and data migration. Staff said initial implementation will require vendor trainers on site and internal staff time to build and test the county’s permit types and business rules.

Commissioners also discussed contract length and budget implications. Staff said the initial contract term is limited in duration during implementation, followed by annual renewals to avoid a long-term lock-in; the court discussed affordability and commended staff for finding an option that fit the county’s budget constraints.
