Commission receives progress reports on Parrot Street demolitions, 813 Southeast Riverside and demolition-by-neglect ordinance

Design review: Staff reported that demolition permits for 113 and 119 Parrot Street were approved by the Design Review Committee at a hearing the previous day. After that meeting, the mayor's office received a phone call from someone interested in purchasing the property "to save it," and staff said they would hold the property until Friday to allow that party to inquire further.
813 Southeast Riverside: Staff said they had spoken with a local contractor who prepared a full exterior estimate and that the bank that currently owns the property has a contractor willing to do the work. Staff described progress as slow and said they had not received a concrete sale price from the bank.
Demolition-by-neglect ordinance: Staff reported they still need to meet with Sarah Dower to advance the demolition-by-neglect ordinance and that the staff member handling the item will be out of the office for about a month for medical reasons. The staff member said another commissioner could reach out to Sarah Dower in the interim and suggested consulting Councilor Mary Allen about sponsorship if needed; the transcript records that Alex Burton had been the sponsor for the ordinance at an earlier stage.
Preservation Month flyer: Staff presented a draft Preservation Month (May 2025) calendar of events flyer and asked commissioners to provide any edits by the following week. Staff said distribution and public outreach would be coordinated through the mayor's office and the communications director, who manages email media blasts and other publicity channels; staff said materials must be vetted by the mayor's office before wider distribution.
