Student Angel Network donates two portable AEDs to county high schools

Members of the Student Angel Network presented two portable automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the Warren County School Board on April 2, saying volunteers purchased one AED for Warren County High School and one for Skyline High School.
A presenter who identified herself as Emily described the Student Angel Network as a volunteer group that “wanted to help fill in the gaps” the schools face and said network volunteers stepped forward to pay for the AEDs. “We just really wanted to help fill in the gaps,” Emily said. “We heard that they needed some portable AEDs for the kids … we really felt like that there was a really deep need for this.”
Board members and staff thanked the presenters and noted the Student Angel Network works across multiple schools. Chair Salins encouraged community members to follow the group on Facebook for future needs the network posts. The presenter said the group helps meet teacher and administrator needs and wished to remain focused on the volunteers who provide the support.
Why it matters: Portable AEDs increase on-site capacity to respond to cardiac emergencies; the presenter said volunteers funded the two devices and no district funds were requested at the meeting.
