The Virginia Gas and Oil Board on April 15 approved Hodge Gas LLC’s petition to modify Vent Shaft Unit 18 by removing acreage extracted for a newly created sealed gob unit and recalculating division of interest among remaining owners. The revised Vent Shaft Unit 18 size will be 4,721.14 acres.
Applicant representatives Mark Schwartz and Kelly Berry said the revised exhibits include updated tract identifications, a revised Exhibit B showing recalculated division of interest and a revised Exhibit B-2 listing acreage removed from the unit. The petition materials identify 136.92 acres of unleased land remaining in the resized unit, representing 2.9001% of the unit.
The filing included maps showing the remaining unit boundary after extraction, a payment plan (revised Exhibit E) and a proposed order for subtraction and recalculation of interest. Board members asked about outstanding title/clouded-title matters; staff said tracts with clouded title are held in escrow while other disputed tracts remain listed as documentation pending until corrected.
The board polled and approved the petition by roll call. Division staff will prepare and issue the board’s order reflecting the new unit acreage and recalculated fractional interests.
