The Papillion La Vista Community Schools Board of Education approved a $1,295,233.58 construction contract April 14 for track work at Papillion La Vista High School and Liberty Middle School, administration reported.
Mr. Richards, the district staff member presenting the project, said the low bid came from Nemaha Sports Construction of Lincoln, a company that previously completed projects for the district. The contract covers replacing the Monarch track, concrete repairs around the track area, improvements to the shot-put facility, new goal posts on the practice field, siding replacement for a shed at Monarch, and resurfacing the Liberty Middle School track.
Mr. Madler moved to approve the bid from Nemaha Sports Contracting LLC in the amount of $1,295,233.58 and to delegate authority to the superintendent or assistant superintendent of business services to execute contracts and change orders. Mr. Lotus seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded unanimous yeses and the motion carried.
District staff said the work falls within the engineers’ budget estimates and follows the district’s earlier approval to replace tracks at two other middle schools this summer. No opponents or public commenters spoke against the contract at the meeting.
The board delegated authority to administration to sign contracts and manage change orders so the district can proceed with scheduling and construction.
