The San Francisco Ethics Commission voted April 11 to approve a stipulated settlement with respondent O'Baba (presentation used the name O'Baba) concerning failure to complete the 2024 annual ethics and sunshine trainings.
Senior investigator Eric Willett told commissioners that the respondent assumed office on the sheriff’s oversight board in January 2022, failed to complete the 2024 training despite multiple pre-filing and non-filer notices from the engagement and compliance division, attended at least six meetings of the sheriff’s oversight board and voted on 12 agenda items. Willett emphasized that the record does not allege the respondent voted on matters involving a personal financial conflict. The matter was resolved under two counts with a total monetary penalty of $1,000.
Commissioners had no further questions. The commission then moved and seconded to adopt the stipulation; the roll call recorded four affirmative votes and the motion passed unanimously.
The enforcement division noted its practice of sending repeated pre-filing and non-filer notices before initiating enforcement and described the case as resolved through a stipulated agreement.
