Timnath Town Council unanimously approved a resolution March 25 appointing Wendy Newan, Tom Wood, Michael Lowry and Janelle Mains to the town’s Planning Commission. The appointments arise from the commission’s standard application/interview process; one seat had been vacant due to a recent resignation.
Town staff reported that the planning commission’s bylaws allow applications to remain active for one year and that staff and the commission chair had re-interviewed top candidates from a prior recruitment. Michael Lowry will be elevated from an alternate position to a regular commissioner, and Janelle Mains was appointed to an alternate seat. Terms run April 1 to March 31 and are for four years where indicated under the commission’s appointment process; staff said incumbents may continue serving until replaced if an appointment does not occur immediately.
Planning staff and commission leadership recommended the slate based on panels and interviews; council members and the planning commission chair endorsed the candidates during the meeting. Council voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
