District seeks amended FY24–25 budget to allocate $1.5M for K–12 ELA curriculum from MLO funds

Comfort reminded the board that a plan amendment had previously been approved by the MLO committee and DAC to use nonrecurring MLO funds for curriculum purchases and for a triannual MLO review. Because the purchase requires moving money between funds, the CFO said an amended budget is required to execute the plan now rather than wait for the next budget cycle.
Comfort explained the $1,500,000 transfer covers the curriculum purchase; the previously approved $100,000 for the MLO review remains in MLO accounts. He said the May 7 meeting is feasible for the board to take action and that the procurement timeline requires ordering curriculum in time for next school year.
