Board adds topics for community advisory work group and approves two nonprofit sponsorships

At its April 9 meeting the Sweetwater Authority board approved several administrative matters affecting public outreach and community engagement.
Community Advisory Work Group: staff presented a list of proposed topics and the board expanded the list to include PFAS updates, project-permitting requirements, water transfers from Loveland to Sweetwater, a Sweetwater Reservoir trail update, fire-readiness planning (broadening a prior single-check-valve topic), the FY26 budget overview and the water-resources master plan. Directors urged staff to ensure committee materials are posted in advance and that meeting summaries are clearly labeled on the authority website for public navigation.
Sponsorships: the board approved a $2,500 balance-plate sponsorship for the Olivewood Gardens Seedling Soiree and approved a table-level sponsorship for the South County Economic Development Council’s annual economic summit (April 29). Director Cox opposed both sponsorship votes on grounds that current board policy restricts sponsorship to events that are open to the public and do not charge an entrance fee; staff said Olivewood’s event is an open nonprofit fundraiser and the authority’s historic practice has included similar sponsorships.
Other administrative approvals: the board also approved a one-year attendance and per-diem schedule for certain upcoming conferences and meetings and discussed improvements to posting of advisory-committee materials and meeting dates on the authority website.
