Franklin County commissioners proclaimed April 21'25, 2025, as Reentry Week and heard from Franklin Together coalition members about events intended to support people returning from incarceration.
Warden Franzoni, who said he is co‑chair of Franklin Together this year, described the coalition's mission to coordinate community and professional partners to help formerly incarcerated individuals overcome barriers to housing, employment and reentry. Leigh (Lee) Elliott of South Central Community Action Programs outlined events for the week: library displays about incarceration, a drop‑off for care packs of hygiene and cleaning supplies at SCAP, a community film night at the Woods Center with a panel discussion, and the weekly Gathering of Hope featuring a keynote and community recognitions. The group maintains a website, franklintogether.org, for event registration and details.
Commissioners read a proclamation noting Pennsylvania's large population under supervision and citing local statistics (the proclamation said an average of "25 inmates are released monthly from the Franklin County Jail"). After the presentation commissioners moved and approved the proclamation by voice vote.
Why it matters: reentry programs and coordinated community supports are intended to reduce recidivism and help returning individuals become contributing members of the community, county speakers said.
Formal action: agenda item 4.04, the proclamation declaring Reentry Week, was adopted by voice vote.
