The Livingston County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on April 15 to adopt the county—qualization report for 2025, accept a State Court Administrative Office grant for a juvenile status‑offense diversion project, approve a capital purchase of fire‑system equipment for the historic courthouse and pass a resolution asking the state to appropriate funds for a 911 central‑dispatch video wall.
The board also approved the accounts payable and claims reports for the period cited on the agenda.
Commissioners approved the county equalization report after Equalization staff and Director Bostwick asked the board to lower the agricultural class value in Green Oak Township by about $20,000 to bring values within the 50% cap. Director Bostwick said the item was explained on page 4 of the agenda and that the board was being asked to approve the equalized numbers rather than assessed values. Commissioner Gross moved to adopt the report; Commissioner Fiani seconded. A roll call produced seven yes votes; two commissioners were absent.
The board next accepted the State Court Administrative Office Status Offense Diversion Project grant for juvenile court (resolution 2025‑04‑048). Commissioner Domas moved to accept the grant; Commissioner Nakagiri seconded. The motion passed on roll call with seven yes votes and two absences.
Commissioners then authorized the capital purchase of fire‑system equipment for the historic courthouse, a measure described in the meeting as approximately $70,100. Commissioner Helzerman moved the purchase with Commissioner Domas seconding. The motion passed on roll call.
The board also adopted a resolution respectfully requesting the state of Michigan to appropriate funds for a Livingston County 911 central‑dispatch video wall (resolution 2025‑04‑050). The resolution will be sent to Representative Jason Wolford, who was identified in the meeting as the official who will forward the request to the state appropriations committee. Commissioner Fiani moved the resolution; Commissioner Sample seconded. The board approved the resolution by voice vote, 7‑0 with two absences.
Finally, the board approved claims dated April 15, 2025, and payables for the period March 14 through April 7, 2025, on a combined motion by Commissioner Sample with support from Commissioner Gross. Commissioner Gross noted the county—inished making payments related to an SRS posting fee to Hartland Township totaling $8,845.67 and that jail inmate meal expenditures rose to about $12,000 in March because the population of federal inmates increased and the federal government reimburses the county for those meals.
