Council staff indicated offices are exploring measures that could provide property owners relief from municipal bills (for example, water bills) while unlawful occupants remain in place and said they are considering training for police on how to identify trespassers versus tenants with claims.
No new legislation was passed at the town hall; council members encouraged residents to testify at hearings and to attend future meetings when any bill is brought back to the floor.
