Appellants and several residents of the adjacent Austin building argued that the MND understated impacts to building occupants — notably reduced daylight and interior light well conditions for lower units in the Austin — and that the Grubstake is a historically significant LGBTQ‑community resource whose loss or alteration should trigger an environmental impact report. Appellant representative David Sincotta and resident Teresa Calderon presented technical and experiential evidence asserting interior daylight levels could decline below standards for normal activities, and urged the board to require further review.
