"If bicycles are to be part of our transit network, they need the same funding, political leadership and attention that other important parts of our system have," Marr said. The Board did not take a formal vote on the request during introductions; the item was introduced for a future hearing and review by the Budget and Legislative Analyst's Office.
The supervisor cited public health, congestion and equity benefits of biking and asked that the analyst produce recommendations in time for the MTA’s next budget cycle.
