Board approves consent items including film rebate extension, contracts and grants

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved a slate of consent and first-reading items by roll call on Tuesday, including an extension of the city's film rebate program and multiple contract amendments and grant acceptances.

Supervisor Farrell introduced an ordinance (Item 7) to extend the "Film in San Francisco" rebate program for two years through June 30, 2014, and increase the total amount available for rebates up to $2,000,000. Farrell recounted the program's history and said the industry had generated wages and local spending, citing figures that production spent "over $56,000,000" in San Francisco in fiscal year 2010–11 and that the program has brought wages into the city. The ordinance was passed on first reading under "same house, same call."

Other consent items adopted or acted on in the same manner included: - Item 8: Ordinance authorizing the Department of the Environment to accept and expend a $403,000 grant to study the energy and peak-power impacts of replacing old refrigeration equipment in businesses and to add one grant-funded environmental specialist position. Adopted. - Item 16: Resolution finding that a premise-to-premise transfer of a type 48 on-sale public premises liquor license will serve the public convenience (181 Eddy Street to 43 Sixth Street). Adopted.
