Several supervisors who opposed the amendment said the rules committee's original recommendation reflected neighborhood credentials and community leadership; supporters argued Hyde brings neighborhood knowledge, outreach skills and a community voice. After the amendment passed, the board voted to approve the appointment as amended; the roll call on the final motion recorded 11 ayes.
Votes and procedure The amendment to substitute Hyde for the recommended appointee passed on a 6-5 vote. The underlying appointment, as amended, passed unanimously. The matter will place Hyde on the Entertainment Commission with the term reported in the agenda packet.
Ending Supervisors thanked outgoing Commissioner Jim Mika for his service and said they expect the new commissioner to participate in neighborhood-outreach and entertainment-regulation work on the commission.
